EDINBURG, Texas (AP) - Ian Baker scored a career-high 36 points, Braxton Huggins pumped in 23 more and New Mexico State held on Saturday night for 107-101 win over Texas-Rio Grande Valley.

New Mexico State (23-4, 9-2 Western Athletic Conference) pulled away in the second half with a 7-0 spurt that included a 3-pointer and a layup from Baker and made it 92-83 with just over eight minutes to play. The Aggies led the rest of the way but UT-Rio Grande Valley kept the margin at single digits.

Baker was 11 for 18 from the field with three 3-pointers and hit all but two of his 13 free-throw attempts. The Aggies shot 55 percent from the field and finished with the most points in a game since 2012 in a 115-73 win over Hawaii.

Eli Chuha got 17 points for the Aggies and Jemerrio Jones had 13 points.

Nick Dixon got 23 points to lead four Vaqueros in double figures as UT-Rio Grande Valley (10-18, 2-9) reached triple digits for the first time this season.
