The White House plans to name Mike Dubke, founder of Crossroads Media, as its new communications director, CNN reported.
CNN reporter Jim Acosta tweeted Thursday night: “GOP operative and Crossroads Media founder Mike Dubke expected to be named new WH comms director, I’m told.”
Press secretary Sean Spicer has been doing that job as well as being director of communications for President Trump since the inauguration. Mr. Dubke is expected to work alongside Mr. Spicer, who will remain as press secretary, Mr. Acosta tweeted further.
Mr. Acosta and his CNN colleague Euan McKirdy reported that two White House officials said the announcement could happen as soon as Friday.
Not everyone at the White House welcomed the news, the news outlet said.
“Dubke and his Crossroads friends did everything they could to kill the Trump movement and failed,” one person inside the White House told CNN.
“Dubke’s work with Crossroads Media is rankling some longtime Trump loyalists who would rather see a veteran from campaign in Comms job,” Mr. Acosta tweeted.
Mr. Dubke did not respond to CNN for a comment.
According to its website, “Crossroads Media (CRM) is the premier Republican media services firm, specializing in advertising strategy and placement for political candidates, issue advocacy organizations and trade associations. On behalf of its clients, CRM has planned and executed more than $200 million dollars of political media buys at the national, state and local levels.”
Mr. Dubke founded Crossroads Media in 2001 and “in the 2008 elections, Crossroads Media distinguished itself as one of the major media placement firms on the national scene,” the website said.
He is currently a founding partner, along with Carl Forti and Brian Jones, at the Black Rock Group, a strategic communications and public affairs firm, based in Alexandria, Virginia.
