President Trump rebuked the news media Thursday at a hastily-arranged press conference, saying the “level of dishonest is out of control.”

The president accused the news media of siding with special interests and not the American people in waging relentless attacks on his still young administration.

“The media’s trying to attack our administration because they know we are following through on pledges that we made, and they’re not happy about it,” he said.

“I see [news] stories of chaos, chaos, yet it is the exact opposite. This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine, despite the fact that I can’t get my Cabinet approved.”

The attacks on the news media echoed Mr. Trump’s stump speeches from the campaign, where he routinely denounced news reporters as the “most dishonest people I’ve ever seen.”
