KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) - J.R. Holder scored 26 points on 9-for-13 shooting and Omar El Manasterly’s jumper with eight seconds left carried Jacksonville to a 79-78 win over Kennesaw State on Thursday night.
Kendrick Ray’s shot went halfway down before bouncing back out as time expired. Ray scored a layup with 13 seconds to go before El Manasterly scored his fourth point of the game.
Darien Fernandez scored 17 points for Jacksonville (17-12, 5-7 Atlantic Sun) as the Dolphins shot 52 percent (26 for 50) from the floor. Aubrey Williams led Kennesaw State (12-16, 6-6) with 18 points and 14 rebounds, Nick Masterson scored 17, Ray had 15, and James Scott added 11.
The Owls missed 10 free throws (14 for 24) and committed 20 turnovers. Jacksonville’s defense netted 15 steals. The Dolphins have won their last two by an average margin of two points following a two-game losing streak.
Kennesaw State now has dropped two straight after a three-game win streak.
