NBC’s Chuck Todd told 1.2 million Twitter followers that President Trump’s barbs at the media are “un-American.”
Thursday’s White House press conference featuring some contentious back-and-forth between Mr. Trump and reporters rattled the “Meet the Press” moderator, who listened to the commander in chief blast “dishonest” media and then published a series of tweets on “dangerous” rhetoric.
“This not a laughing matter. I’m sorry, delegitimizing the press is unAmerican,” Mr. Todd tweeted. “Press bashing may feel good to folks but when it’s done by people in power, it’s corrosive. Take off your partisan hats for a second.”
The journalist also tagged The Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler in a tweet and said it would be “a long day” for self-described fact-checkers.
“Going to be a long day for @PolitiFact and @GlennKesslerWP,” he wrote.
“I have never seen more dishonest media, frankly than the political media,” Mr. Trump said during his remarks.

The president said recent intelligence leaks are “absolutely real,” but coverage of them was illegitimate because “so much of the news is fake.”
“I’m here today to update the American people on the incredible progress that has been made in the last four weeks since my inauguration,” Mr. Trump said. “We have made incredible progress. I don’t think there’s ever been a president elected who in this short period of time has done what we’ve done.”
