LEMON GROVE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a home invasion robber who was killed during a Southern California holdup was 15 years old.

The San Diego Union-Tribune (https://bit.ly/2lkOotA ) says he was identified Wednesday as Derrick Harris Jr. of San Diego.

The teen’s family filed a missing person’s report a day after the Feb. 7 shooting in Lemon Grove.

Homicide detectives who received the report thought the teen’s description matched that of the unidentified suspect and authorities used DNA to confirm his identity.

Authorities say Harris was one of two people who tried to rob a home on Edding Drive. One robber shot and wounded the homeowner’s 22-year-old son.

The father then grabbed Harris and the gun, which went off as they struggled.

The wounded son is recovering at home.

The other suspect is being sought.
