POMONA, Calif. (AP) - A small plane has made an emergency landing at the Southern California auto speedway but the pilot and passenger escaped with only minor injuries.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the engine failed in the single-engine Beechcraft on Wednesday night when it had nearly reached its destination in Upland. It made the emergency landing near the grandstand of the Auto Club Raceway in Fontana. The plane was coming from the Selma Airport near Fresno.
Fire officials say two people on board the plane managed to walk out of the aircraft and are being examined.
Nobody on the ground was hurt and there was no fire.
The FAA will investigate the landing.
