Bill Maher will interview Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos on Friday’s episode of “Real Time With Bill Maher,” HBO announced Wednesday.
The news comes after the conservative firebrand was blocked by violent protests from speaking at the University of California, Berkeley campus earlier this month.
Two days after the Berkeley riots, Mr. Maher said on his show that his team had been trying to book Mr. Yiannopoulos.
“I’ve been a longtime critic of colleges shutting people up,” the comedian said at the time, Deadline reported. “Free speech should be something we own.”
Last week, Mr. Yiannopoulos revealed during an interview with fellow podcaster Adam Carolla that he would likely be appearing on “Real Time” later this month.
Mr. Yiannopoulos is expected to be Mr. Maher’s first guest on the show to air this Friday, followed by actress Leah Remini, The Wrap first reported. A panel to discuss the day’s headlines will include former Republican Rep. Jack Kingston, journalist Jeremy Scahill and comedian Larry Wilmore.
