PHOENIX (AP) - An autopsy has concluded that the death of a 12-year-old boy following a hot hike was accidental.

CBS 5 (KPHO-TV) reports (https://bit.ly/2lPOhEc ) that according to a report released Tuesday Cody Flom died of heat exhaustion. His initial recorded body temperature was 102 degrees and later reached nearly 108 degrees.

Cody went hiking in 110-degree weather in July with his mother’s boyfriend at a north Phoenix mountain preserve. He later became sick. The boyfriend tried to carry Cody down the mountain trail but eventually left him in order to get help.
