POWNAL, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a man suffered a severe leg injury when he was hit by a snowmobile in Pownal over the weekend.

Police say Elijah Dickinson was riding a snowmobile on Saturday night when he stopped and got off the vehicle. He wasn’t wearing reflective clothing and was subsequently struck by a snowmobile driven by Christopher Dickinson.

Troopers say Christopher Dickinson attempted to avoid hitting Elijah Dickinson but was unable to do so.

Elijah Dickinson was flown to a hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

Authorities didn’t disclose the men’s ages or where they were from.

State police are urging snowmobile riders to wear protective gear.
