MERIDEN, Conn. (AP) - Police in Connecticut are looking for five young men they say attacked a husband and wife apparently at random in a supermarket and left the man unconscious.

Police say the victims were walking to the Stop & Shop in Meriden on Sunday afternoon when five men inside a car started verbally harassing them.

The men followed the couple into the store and surrounded them. When the 28-year-old man took offense when his wife was threatened, he was punched in the face and knocked down. The suspects kicked him, knocking out several teeth and knocked him unconscious.

The suspects, who appeared to be in their late teens or early 20s, then fled.

The victims say they did not know their assailants.

Police released surveillance images of the suspects, hoping someone recognizes them.
