BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - An attorney who helped secure a nearly $671 million federal court settlement with DuPont and Chemours for residents along the Ohio River who had their drinking water contaminated will speak next week at Bennington College.
The Bennington Banner reports (https://bit.ly/2krZdpT ) Rob Bilott, a partner with the firm, Taft Stettinius & Hollister, plans to talk on Feb. 23 about his engagements with perfluorooctanoic acid.
Bilott will speak on “Investigating and Addressing Human Health Threats from PFOA in Drinking Water: Legal Challenges.” The free talk is open to the public.
PFOA was detected in well water near the former Chemfab manufacturing plant in Bennington.
The chemical is used in products containing Teflon and has been detected in low levels of most Americans. High exposure is suspected to increase the risk of cancer.
