DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - A Colorado town will need to hire its eighth town administrator in 10 years after the most recent administrator resigned.
The Durango Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2kuFW7T ) that Silverton Town Administration Bill Gardner resigned last week amid ongoing disagreements with the Town Council. Gardner wrote in his resignation letter that controversy comes with the territory of the position.
The mountain town of about 600 hired Gardner, a former La Plata County Sheriff, in July 2015 to stabilize the turmoil in the town. Silverton had recently been through a bitter recall election, a shutdown of Town Hall and internal staff drama. The latter led to the firing of a previous town administrator.
It was unclear as of Thursday what specifically prompted Gardner’s Feb. 3 resignation.
