NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey judge is scheduled to rule next week on whether there’s probable cause to proceed with a criminal case against Republican Gov. Chris Christie over the George Washington Bridge lane-closing scandal.
Municipal Court Judge Roy McGeady was to have ruled Thursday, but courts were closed due to a snowstorm.
McGeady is scheduled to announce his ruling at a hearing next Thursday.
He ruled in October there was probable cause for former firefighter William Brennan’s misconduct complaint against Christie to proceed. But a higher court judge disagreed and sent it back to McGeady for reconsideration.
Brennan’s complaint accuses Christie of failing to stop subordinates from purposely creating traffic jams in 2013 to punish a Democratic mayor who didn’t endorse Christie.
Two former Christie aides were convicted in November.
