OPINION:
North Korea has grown more and more aggressive as it glides along the path of nuclear weapons development. Just think when the North does finally deploy a long-range ICBM that can reach America. The regime of Kim Jong-un is the number one threat to the United States, albeit among many.
The North launched two ballistic missiles recently as the Prime Minister of Japan prepared to meet with the President of the United States in Washington, D.C. Two Musudan intermediate-range missiles were fired from Wonsan and landed in the Sea of Japan.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said earlier that the first launch Wednesday was “presumed to have been unsuccessful,” according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) determined the missile launches from North Korea did not pose a threat to North America. We strongly condemn this and other North Korea’s missile test in violation of UN Security Council Resolutions, which explicitly prohibit North Korea’s use of ballistic missile technology, said CDR Dave Benham, a spokesperson for U.S. Pacific Command in Honolulu, reported USA Today.
“We are tracking any missile-related signs and maintain a high state of readiness,” the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said.
