LOS ANGELES (AP) - Attorneys in the murder case against New York real estate heir Robert Durst have agreed to hold the preliminary hearing in October.
Court documents filed Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court by attorneys for Durst says they agreed with prosecutors to begin the preliminary hearing Oct. 17.
The papers say the timing is due to the voluminous amount of evidence in the case, and the parties will meet in September to make sure they’ll be ready to go forward on that date.
Durst has pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder in the 2000 fatal shooting of his best friend, Susan Berman. Prosecutors contend that Durst killed her because she was prepared to speak with police about his wife Kathleen Durst’s 1982 disappearance in New York.
