DETROIT (AP) - Jalen Hayes and Sherron Dorsey-Walker scored 23 points apiece and Martez Walker added 20 to help Oakland beat Detroit Mercy 89-80 on Friday night for its fourth win in a row.
Hayes and Dorsey-Walker combined to make 14 of 25 from the field and 15 of 18 from the line. They scored 24 of Oakland’s 37 second-half points.
Hayes scored eight points and Isaiah Brock had two dunks, two steals, three rebounds and one assist during a 20-5 run that made it 30-14 with 7:27 left in the half and the Golden Grizzlies (19-7, 9-4 Horizon League) led the rest of the way. Brad Brechting’s layup to close the half made it 52-34 and Dorsey-Walker’s rebound and fast-break layup pushed the lead to 20 with 14 minutes to go.
Three free throws by Josh McFolley cut the deficit to eight with 39 seconds left but the Titans got no closer.
Jaleel Hogan had 23 points and nine rebounds, McFolley scored 21 and Corey Allen added 16 for Detroit (6-19, 4-9).
Oakland shot 61 percent (19 of 31) in the first half.
