DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - A MARTA police detective says security footage clearly shows a man fatally stabbing a panhandler on a train.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/2kyJUPn ) reports that Investigator Patrick Frazier testified Thursday that 49-year-old Charles Richey mocked 41-year-old Damilola Azuana after the man asked Richey for money on the night of Jan. 24 as the train journeyed through Decatur.

Frazier says Azuana walked away, but Richey grabbed the panhandler, prompting a fight in which Azuana pinned Richey to the seat before getting stabbed.

Richey says he couldn’t breathe and used the knife to get Azuana off.

Richey, who turned himself in to authorities the next day, has been charged with murder.

Following testimony, a judge found probable cause for the state to proceed with the case in superior court.
