VENTURA, Calif. (AP) - Officials are investigating a string of five suspicious fires at Ventura Harbor, including one that destroyed a commercial fishing boat.
Douglas Miser, a fire battalion chief with the city of Ventura, says crews responding to a vehicle fire early Tuesday soon learned there were other blazes in the immediate area.
Flames fully engulfed a 50-foot commercial fishing boat in dry dock. Fires also damaged a forklift and a delivery vehicle. Blazes were also reported on two other boats, but neither was significantly damaged.
No injuries were reported.
The Ventura County Star reports (https://bit.ly/2kqyoGD ) the fire department and police are investigating the fires, all of which were reported within 20 minutes of each other.
