NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The insurance company Geico is planning another expansion at its regional office.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that roughly 500 people are expected to be hired in Virginia Beach in coming months.

The newspaper says the company’s regional office currently employs nearly 3,000 people. It will start handles sales, service and insurance claims for Tennessee customers starting Jan. 1.

The company says entry-level salaries will start in the mid-$30,000 range.

Geico added roughly 500 jobs to its Virginia Beach operations a year ago.

The insurance company is headquartered in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
