Corey Lewandowski said Thursday he did not know about Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with the Russians despite still being the campaign manager at the time.

“No, I was never made aware of it, and didn’t know the meeting existed until it was publicly available the last, recent, weeks and months,” Mr. Lewandowski said on CNN.

President Trump’s eldest son met with someone who he was led to believe had compromising information on Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the summer of 2016, and was connected to the Russian government. But when he met with attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya, she did not have any information on Mrs. Clinton, or a connection to the Kremlin. Both have since said the discussion was about Russian adoptions.

Paul Manafort, who would later take over from Mr. Lewandowski as campaign chairman, attended the meeting along with the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Mr. Trump Jr. faced questioning about the meeting in a closed-door hearing on Capitol Hill Wednesday.
