BOSTON (AP) - Edna Kiplagat and Geoffrey Kirui will return to defend their Boston Marathon titles in 2018.

Both runners won in their Boston debuts last year.

In only his third race at the 26.2-mile distance, Kirui pulled away from three-time U.S. Olympian Galen Rupp with two miles to go to give Kenya its first men’s victory in five years. He followed that with a victory in the world championships.

Kiplagat won the women’s race to complete the Kenyan sweep. She has since won a silver medal at the world championships and finished fourth in the New York City Marathon.

The 122nd running of the Boston Marathon will be April 16.
