HERRIMAN, Utah (AP) - Authorities say a man who allegedly stole packages from doorsteps of homes in Utah was arrested in Nevada.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports the man, who fired a gun at a witness in Herriman, was arrested Monday at a West Wendover motel.

The Unified Police Department says the suspect was booked into the Elko County, Nevada, jail on suspicion of attempted murder and theft.

Unified Police spokesman Ken Hansen says a woman who was driving the car during the alleged package theft also was arrested.

Authorities say a passer-by saw them and took pictures of the alleged thieves’ car.

Police say the witness later told police that when the pair realized they were being followed, the male fired a shot at the witness with a black handgun.
