TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Put 2017 down in the record books for Tucson’s weather as a warm one.
The National Weather Service reports that 2017 was Tucson’s warmest year on record with an average yearly temperature of 73.3 degrees. That’s 1.2 degrees hotter than the previous record set in 2014 and 2016.
The weather service’s Tucson office reports that 2017 was the city’s 19th straight year in which the average yearly temperature was above normal and that Tucson in 2017 had the most daily record temperatures set or tied since 1989.
Also, Tucson’s second hottest high temperature — 116 degrees — occurred on June 20, 2017.
