SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A 37-year-old man suspected of shooting at police officers in Utah County told investigators that he had a list of 13 people he wanted to kill and was prepared to shoot police officers.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Arturo Ray Gallemore-Jimenez told investigators he would shoot police to avoid jail and was also prepared to die himself.

The shootout began Dec. 20 in Nephi when police were called about a gun being fired at a truck stop.

The county Sheriff’s Office and several other police departments tried to stop Gallemore-Jimenez in Springville when police say the man fired at officers.

Gallemore-Jimenez was arrested after his car crashed.

Sgt. Spencer Cannon says investigators don’t know the man’s motivations.

Gallemore-Jimenez does not have a listed attorney or listed phone number where someone could be reached to comment on his behalf.
