Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) repeated his call for Special Counsel Robert Mueller to be removed from the investigation into alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign and while praising the work of “a great deal of folks” at the Department of Justice and the FBI, he took direct aim at the apparent politically-motivated actions of several officials who have recently announced their resignations.

Appearing on Fox News at Night with guest host Ed Henry, Gaetz said “in the swamp of Washington DC, the biggest alligator is a politicized FBI and Department of Justice.”

He went on to say that a “pro-Hillary Clinton bias (and) anti-Donald Trump bias continue to infect our institutions and our systems that all Americans should be able to rely on.”

Henry pressed Gaetz on the recent remarks of his colleague Rep. Francis Rooney (R-FL) that there should be a “purge” within the FBI over political bias. Gaetz replied that “the purge is already happening,” and pointed out the recent announcements of resignations and reassignments at the DOJ and FBI in the wake of revelations of apparent political bias in relation to the Clinton email investigation and the Mueller probe..

Gaetz saved his deepest criticism for Mueller going so far as to compare him to DC journalists in the mainstream media.

“If Bob Mueller were any more biased, we’d have to give him credentials for the mainstream media. … I’ve been calling for Mueller to be fired for months now,” Gaetz said.

It’s an action-packed segment with a sharp line of questions from Henry and an animated performance by Gaetz. Watch the entire exchange in the video above.
