HANOVER, N.H. (AP) - Older adults in New Hampshire are leaning on the younger generation to help figure out modern technology.

The Valley News reports the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Aging Resource Center in Lebanon hosts a weekly tech coaching program where high school students help older adults with questions about their iPads, email and Facebook.

Renee Pepin, geriatric psychologist at the Dartmouth Centers for Health and Aging, says older adults benefit from having increased tech literacy. She says it can help them gain access to information and improve their socialization through keeping in touch with loved ones.

The program has hosted 17 student coaches since it launched in 2014.

Jean Bates has come to the sessions for the past year. The 73-year-old says the students have “pulled me out of holes time and time again.”
