CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire’s Department of Education has hired a cultural and linguistic competence coordinator.

Bhagirath Khatiwada will work with school leadership and teachers to help engage all students, including children of new U.S. citizens, to integrate them into their local school class surroundings.

Khatiwada immigrated to New Hampshire in 2008 from Bhutan. He said among his goals are helping students, parents, and teachers break socio-economic barriers, if they have any, and help students succeed.
