MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Republican Gov. Phil Scott’s administration has announced that sexual harassment training is now required for all executive branch state employees.
Scott said Friday that the prevalence of harassment and assault across the country is disappointing and says it’s clear that “we must all take a strong stand against this abuse.”
The training is aimed at educating state employees on how to identify, prevent and address sexual harassment issues in the workplace. The Human Resources Department commissioner says the department has already scheduled 400 trainings across the state over the next year and will offer as many as necessary.
The governor’s appointed staff also must attend training related to sexual harassment at least annually.
