SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say police agencies from San Francisco to Sacramento have seized 211 firearms and arrested 29 people in an operation targeting gang violence in Sacramento.
The Sacramento Bee reports the operation was triggered by an August drive-by shooting during an afternoon rap video shoot in Sacramento that left five injured and one dead. Community activists say the shooting was likely related to an online feud between Sacramento rappers and the gangs that follow them.
Police officials say two rival Sacramento street gangs have been feuding in since 2015, though they would not identify them by name Wednesday.
Those arrested face charges that include robbery, auto theft, firearms trafficking, narcotic sales and homicide.
Sacramento Police Department spokesman Eddie Macaulay says the investigation is ongoing and other suspects are still at large.
