Sen. James Lankford said Thursday that he believes Russia tried to meddle in the 2016 campaign, but he couldn’t say if President Trump agreed.
“He’s still very passionate about this one issue: He didn’t collude [and] no one on his campaign colluded,” Mr. Lankford, Oklahoma Republican, said on CNN.
When asked if he had spoken with the president on Russia’s attempts to meddle, he said they have not addressed it “at length.”
On the pressing issue of a government shutdown, Mr. Lankford was confident there would not be one, despite Democratic threats that not addressing DACA legislation would prevent them from supporting the funding bill.
“DACA will be resolved, but we’re not there yet,” Mr. Lankford said, adding that both parties are committed to addressing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program prior to the March 1 deadline.
