BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU has sought to bolster its offensive and defensive lines in the early signing period.
The Tigers’ top-rated recruit to sign on Wednesday is Travez Moore, a 6-foot-6, 250-pound edge pass rusher who is from Bastrop and played most recently at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Mississippi.
Orgeron says the arrival of Moore, rated among the best nationally at his position, is important in light of outside linebacker Arden Key’s anticipated early entry in the NFL draft.
LSU also has signed 6-7, 310-pound Badara Traore, who emerged as one of the nation’s top-rated junior college offensive lineman at ASA College in New York.
LSU coach Ed Orgeron says the Tigers, who’ve struggled with depth on the offensive line this season, needed, and got, “the best junior college left tackle in the country.”
The Tigers also added Louisiana’s top-rated offensive lineman in 6-6, 285-pound Cameron Wire.
LSU has signed one running back so far. Chris Curry, a 5-11, 200-pound Florida native, joins a squad that will lose Darrell Williams to graduation and is expected to lose junior Derrius Guice to the NFL draft.
