Sen. John N. Kennedy said Tuesday that critics who argue the Republican tax plan is a benefit for the rich likely don’t know what’s in the bill anymore.

“I think a lot of folks don’t really understand what’s in it, not because they’re not smart, but because it’s changed,” Mr. Kennedy, Louisiana Republican, said on CNN.

When asked if the bill is a benefit for the wealthy or the middle class, Mr. Kennedy said he doesn’t believe in making tax policy based on “class warfare,” but that everyone stands to benefit.

“What helps the American people the most is giving them access to a quality job. I think this bill will do that,” he said.

Mr. Kennedy added that the bill will create more incentive for foreign investment, predicting it will grow by 50 percent, as well as grow businesses at home.
