Sabrina Ionescu keeps racking up triple-doubles.
Ninth-ranked Oregon’s sophomore guard matched an NCAA record with her seventh career triple-double on Sunday in a rout of Mississippi. While she downplayed the achievement caring more that her team won, her coach Kelly Graves was impressed with the 21-point, 14-assist, 11-rebound performance.
“Tonight, you could tell there was a little twinkle in her eye right from the get-go,” Graves said. “She had something to prove and went out and did it.”
Ionescu tied the triple-double mark set by Penn State’s Suzie McConnell in 1988 and matched by Louella Tomlinson of Saint Mary’s in 2011.
It was a relatively quiet week in women’s basketball with most schools having exams.

STELLAR FROSH: Texas A&M first-year Chennedy Carter broke a school record, scoring 46 points - including the game-winner - in the 19th-ranked Aggies’ 75-74 win over USC on Friday night. She made a fallaway shot from the baseline with nine seconds remaining to lift the Aggies to the victory.
“That was a big shot. It was tough for me,” Carter said. “I didn’t know if it was going to go in. As a freshman, sometimes you have to take it, and whether I missed or made it, I had to live with it.”
With the Aggies in Southern California, she also got to head to Disneyland with her teammates.
Carter broke Danielle Adams’ mark of 40 points set on Feb. 12, 2011, against Kansas.
“I was there for Danielle Adams when she hit 40 and broke the school record,” Texas A&M coach Gary Blair said. “For a freshman to come in and do it on the road, it was just mind-boggling. The shots that she had to hit, a number of them they were just hanging on her. Her drive is as good as anybody I’ve ever had driving the ball.”
ON THE ROAD TO 1,000: North Carolina coach Sylvia Hatchell joined UConn’s Geno Auriemma with 999 victories. Both have a chance to reach the 1,000-win mark on Tuesday night. The Tar Heels play Grambling State while the Huskies host Oklahoma at Mohegan Sun Arena. They would be the third and fourth women’s basketball coaches to reach that milestone.
POLL WATCH: Top 25 teams went 26-0 this week against unranked opponents meaning there won’t be too much movement in the poll this upcoming week. Oregon lost at No. 5 Mississippi State and 12th-ranked Florida State fell at No. 8 Texas in the only matchups featuring two ranked teams.
WELCOME: UCLA guard Japreece Dean, who transferred from Texas Tech last year, saw her first action of the season playing in the No. 11 Bruins’ win over Seton Hall on Sunday. She sat out the first nine games because of NCAA transfer rules. She had eight points.
“She’s going to be a huge factor for us because she can shoot the 3,” UCLA coach Cori Close said. “She played like a nervous wreck and a little out of rhythm.She brings a punch to us. She really did give us a spark and will give us a bigger spark moving forward.
