College to get new building for training prison employees

CUMBERLAND, Md. (AP) - The Allegany College of Maryland is set to get a new building where prison employees will be trained.

The Times-News reports that the Allegany County Commission has agreed to pay for the estimated $600,000 building, with the college paying the money back over seven years.

Construction is set to begin next year. The building will train 1,200 employees from Western and North Branch correctional institutions, two maximum security prisons.
