WINCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Police say a 10 year-old boy died after his sled was hit by a car.

The Keene Sentinel reports that the boy was sledding on a hill in Winchester near his home Saturday afternoon when his sled went into the road and collided with a car.

Winchester Police Lt. Mike Tollett said a bystander immediately began performing CPR on the boy, who later died at Cheshire Medical Center.

Police say the vehicle’s driver is a Winchester resident who is fully cooperating with police. Tollett says police don’t believe speed or impairment contributed to the crash.

Police have not released the name of the child or driver.

Winchester is a small southern New Hampshire town of about 4,300 residents and located about 13 miles (20 miles) south of Keene.
