TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A woman has been convicted of stealing more than $300,000 from a 94-year-old woman suffering from dementia by a Tucson jury.
Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced Friday that Supranom “Addy” Klos faces four years in prison for the theft. She used the money to support a gambling habit, buy a car and get dental implants.
The attorney general’s office says Klos was the woman’s hairstylist and befriended her and her husband more than 20 years ago. She was given power of attorney over the woman’s affairs after the husband died in 2011.
She began siphoning cash from the woman’s accounts in 2014 and was caught after the woman’s bank reported unusually large withdrawals.
She was taken into custody after the jury returned the verdict and will be sentenced later.
