COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - UCHealth has acquired the remaining 17 freestanding ERs and two hospitals in Colorado it operated in a partnership with a Texas-based company.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports the rapidly growing hospital system made the move as part of Adeptus Health’s restructuring under a Chapter 11 bankruptcy. UCHealth spokesman Dan Weaver says the deal was completed earlier this month.

Terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed.

The move solidifies UCHealth’s position on the clinics, which have most of the amenities of an emergency room attached to a hospital. Consumer advocates have long raised concerns about billing practices at such facilities because patients often are left with large bills for minor ailments that could have been better treated at urgent care clinics.

The transaction includes hospitals in Colorado Springs and Broomfield north of Denver.
