CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) - A man being held at a Rhode Island prison has died two days after he was indicted for murder in the death of his girlfriend.

The Providence Journal reports that 40-year-old Christian Boucher, of East Providence, died at the Adult Correctional Institutions on Sunday night.

Boucher had been indicted by a grand jury on Friday on charges of domestic second-degree murder and violating a no-contact order in the death of 29-year-old Justine Cavaco of Barrington. Police found Cavaco in a Burger King parking lot in Providence on Aug. 26. Witnesses told police a man kicked her in the stomach.

The circumstances of his death were not immediately released. State police say they are investigating Boucher’s death, but say it did not appear suspicious. An autopsy is planned.
