Actor Alec Baldwin may soon have a new venue for sharing his President Trump impersonation: Broadway.

The “Saturday Night Live” shtick of Mr. Trump that became popular during the 2016 presidential election inspired Mr. Baldwin to pen “You Can’t Spell America Without Me,” which was released in November by Penguin Press.

But Mr. Baldwin and co-author Kurt Andersen aren’t finished. The two are mulling the creation of a one-man show on Broadway if SNL’s Lorne Michaels gives approval.

“What Lorne did do is give me permission to write this book,” Mr. Baldwin told Howard Stern on Sirius XM radio on Monday, Deadline Hollywood reported. “My rendering of (Trump) is his intellectual property. […] We’re all sick of the whole Trump as source of comedy thing, and I am too, but Kurt goes to another level.”

Mr. Baldwin has publicly expressed discomfort over his act in the past — he fears the cartoonish depiction of Mr. Trump actually turns him into an affable character — but he has not yet abandoned the role.

“Do you think we’re kind of making [Mr. Trump] a little too cuddly and a little too funny and we’re taking people’s mind off something really more serious?” the actor asked Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders during a radio interview in October.

“I think what we have to focus on with Trump is what he is doing,” Mr. Sanders replied, Vanity Fair reported Oct. 4.
