BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The University of Vermont is honoring former longtime men’s basketball coach Tom Brennan in a dedication ceremony.

The Burlington Free Press reports the university will rename center court at Patrick Gym after Brennan in a ceremony Monday night. The ceremony will happen before the team plays Siena College in a nonconference game.

Brennan coached the Vermont Catamounts for 19 seasons between 1986 and 2005. He led the team to three consecutive America East championships and a surprise win against Syracuse in overtime during the 2005 NCAA tournament. Brennan was named national coach of the year by the New Jersey Sportswriters that year.

Kyle Cieplicki, current associate head coach and a member of the 2005 team, says they are “thrilled” to be able to honor Brennan.
