Sen. Lindsey Graham said Monday that if Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore is elected, he will be a useful campaign tool for Democrats in the upcoming midterm elections.

“Moore will be the gift that keeps on giving for Democrats. It will define the 2018 election — at least 2018,” Mr. Graham, South Carolina Republican, said on CNN.

Mr. Moore is running as the Republican candidate in the Alabama special election to fill the vacant Senate seat there. He has been accused by multiple women of pursuing sexual relationships with them as teens when he was in his 30s.

“To think you can elect Roy Moore without getting the baggage of Roy Moore is pretty naive. I wish he would’ve stepped aside,” Mr. Graham said.

Although Republicans initially denounced Mr. Moore and called on him to step aside, the Republican National Committee has recently recommitted resources to the race, and President Trump has endorsed him as well.

Mr. Moore will face-off against Democratic candidate Doug Jones on Tuesday.
