BALTIMORE (AP) - She’s known as the 16th member of Baltimore’s city council.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Rae Sneed, the 1-year-old daughter of Councilwoman Shannon Sneed, is a regular presence at city council offices and meetings.

Sneed said she decided to take her daughter to work regularly after learning how expensive child care would be. She said Mayor Sheila Dixon and council President Bernard C. “Jack” Young have been supportive, even suggesting where Sneed could put a crib in City Hall.

Sneed says having Rae close by is a reminder to advocate for working families and policies like a $15 minimum wage.

Rae has a habit of crying out when witnesses testify against bills her mom supports. One councilman jokes that Rae has a better attendance record than some of his colleagues.
