MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says former national security adviser Michael Flynn should be held accountable for lying to the FBI.
Walker was asked Friday to react to the news that Flynn had pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts during the post-election transition period with the Russian ambassador.
Walker says, “If somebody lies to the Federal Bureau of Investigation there should be consequences for that. I don’t care who it is.”
Walker ran for president against Donald Trump in 2016 but eventually endorsed him. Walker currently serves as head of the Republican Governors Association.
As part of a plea deal Friday, Flynn admitted that a senior member of Trump’s transition team directed him to make contact with Russian officials in December 2016.
