KALKASKA, Mich. (AP) - A northern Michigan woman has been sentenced to 10 to 15 years in prison in the stabbing death of her father.

The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports 27-year-old Jessica Kay Degroot of Kalkaska learned her punishment on Tuesday after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the case. Her 47-year-old husband Brian Degroot is charged with murder in the death of 54-year-old Michael Brandt.

Authorities say Brian Degroot killed Brandt at Brandt’s Springfield Township house and Jessica Degroot helped clean up. Brian Degroot has said he told his wife to leave the house.

Brian Degroot is awaiting trial.

Brandt was stabbed and shot with a crossbow. Investigators have said a friend called 911 on Jan. 29 to report finding Brandt dead of multiple stab wounds.
