WASHINGTON (AP) - A man has been charged with breaking into a Congressman’s office and stealing commemorative coins from his desk.
NBC Washington reported Monday that Edgardo Javier Ramon has a history of court orders to stay away from U.S. government landmarks, including the White House.
Ramon allegedly stole from the office of Oklahoma Republican Markwayne Mullin at the Longworth House Office Building. Court records said Ramon took the coins on July 26, a busy day of votes and committee hearings. Mullin was not in the office at the time.
Ramon’s attorney declined to comment. Court records show he pleaded not guilty to the theft charge.
Ramon has a history of run-ins with federal law enforcement. For instance, he was charged in March with allegedly defacing a statue near the White House.
