Chicago police say a Northwestern University professor and a University of Oxford employee wanted in the fatal stabbing of a Chicago man are in custody in Oakland, California.
Wyndham Lathem and Andrew Warren were wanted in the killing of Trenton Cornell-Duranleau. The body of the 26-year-old Cornell-Duranleau was found July 27 in a 10th floor apartment of a Chicago high-rise building.
Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi tweeted that the two suspects were detained in California by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Authorities haven’t detailed the relationship between 42-year-old Lathem and Cornell-Duranleau, who moved to Chicago from the Grand Rapids, Michigan, area after receiving his cosmetology license.
Chicago police say the 56-year-old Warren, who lives in England, came to the U.S. recently for the first time.

Chicago police say a Northwestern University professor who fled after a man was found fatally stabbed in his apartment has been sending videos to friends calling the stabbing, “the biggest mistake of my life.”
Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi says the U.S. Marshals Service has interviewed several family and friends who received the video from Wyndham Lathem.
A manhunt is underway for Lathem and Andrew Warren, a staffer at the University of Oxford in England. Police across the U.S. and England are involved in the search.
Both are accused in the July 27 slaying of 26-year-old Trenton James Cornell-Duranleau.
Guglielmi says Lathem apologizes in the video for his involvement in the slaying and calls it “the biggest mistake of my life.” Guglielmi declined to provide other details about the video.

Investigators believe that a Northwestern University professor and a University of Oxford staffer wanted in the fatal stabbing of a Chicago man drove to Wisconsin after the slaying and made a $1,000 donation to a library in the dead man’s name.
Chicago police spokesman Frank Giancamilli says it’s unclear why Wyndham Lathem and Andrew Warren made the donation after the slaying of Trenton James Cornell-Duranleau. Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, police Lt. Ed Grittzner says a person handed a library worker $1,000 in cash.
Cornell-Duranleau’s body was found in Lathem’s Chicago apartment on the night of July 27. Police suspect he was killed several hours earlier and that the donation was made before the body was found.
Cornell-Duranleau moved to Chicago from the Grand Rapids, Michigan, area after receiving his cosmetology license.
