LAS VEGAS (AP) - A 47-year-old Las Vegas man is due to face a judge on a felony threats charge after he was accused of leaving racially explicit telephone messages promising to sexually assault and kill the head of the local NAACP.
Bradley Austin is expected to have a lawyer appointed to his case Friday during his first court appearance since his arrest Wednesday by Las Vegas police.
NAACP branch President Roxann McCoy said Thursday that messages referred to white supremacy, weapons, ammunition and McCoy’s license plate number.
McCoy says the caller threatened to tie her up and drag her behind his pickup truck.
She says calls stopped following Austin’s arrest.
Austin was being held Thursday at the Clark County jail on $20,000 bail.
The NAACP is the nation’s oldest civil rights organization.
