LA PORTE, Texas (AP) - A Houston-area officer has fatally shot a man after investigators say the suspect pointed a shotgun at police responding to an argument between neighbors.
Police in La Porte (luh’-PORT) didn’t immediately release the dead man’s name or say what prompted the dispute.
A police statement says La Porte officers late Monday responded to a disturbance. Police determined a man left but had threatened to return with a gun. Gunshots were later reported nearby.
The statement says police approached the man’s home and saw him, through a window, reloading. Investigators say the suspect opened the front door, pointed the shotgun toward officers and refused to drop the weapon. A La Porte officer then shot the man.
Further details weren’t immediately released.
La Porte is 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of Houston.
