DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa authorities say a man questioned in a fatal attack on a Des Moines man last week in which the victim was set on fire has been charged with murder.

Des Moines Police said in a news release Wednesday that 41-year-old Randy Dean Miles Jr., of Des Moines, has been charged with first-degree murder and arson in the death of 26-year-old Christopher Lenhart.

Police say Lenhart was set on fire Friday afternoon and died of his injuries Sunday.

Miles was detained in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Monday and questioned by police.

Police say Miles remained in custody in Grand Forks on Wednesday awaiting extradition to Iowa. It was unclear whether Miles yet had an attorney.

Lenhart’s death is Des Moines’ 23rd homicide this year.
